Belfast, Northern Ireland, October 2006.

Margaret Hale, 41, is a Catholic woman who grew up in Belfast. When she was a child, her family’s home was burned down by Protestants during an intense period of sectarian violence. She now lives in Parkside, North Belfast, where she was severely beaten outside her home by an unknown assailant one night in 2001. Her left eye socket was crushed and her left arm was broken.
